MO: Missouri City Threatens to Enforce Halloween Sign Requirement Despite Statewide Injunction

The City of Hazelwood, Missouri, has mailed letters to all registrants in that city stating that the City will enforce this year a state law that has been declared unconstitutional.  That law requires registrants to post a sign on their home on Halloween.

A federal district court judge issued a statewide permanent injunction on October 2, 2024, which prohibits enforcement of that state law.  The Attorney General of Missouri appealed the district court judge’s decision to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and oral arguments were conducted last month.

In its appeal, the Attorney General argued that the statewide permanent injunction should be removed.  Because the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has not yet issued its decision, the injunction remains in effect.

They still enforce the law but not the sign part according to the revisor of statutes. I haven’t seen the letter but imagine it’s a copy paste from prior years.

I have a feeling the injunction is going to be removed.

Man, I wish I lived in that city!!! I would tell them, go ahead and try to enforce the unconstitutional law. Once you do, I will see you in court on violating my constitutional rights!!! I would OWN the city once I was through with them!

To the those who live in Missouri, please stand your ground and don’t let those bullies push you around. Strength in numbers folks!

So, the City of Hazelwood, Missouri, confesses to violating the court order and the Constitution, and no arrests have been made for these crimes yet?

When PFR so much as forget to provide a service that the court orders, instant felony charge and jail time! WTF!

Someone please call the police and have these outlaws arrested. PFR are simply not safe with these outlaws targeting them.

Harassing PFR and threatening their lives with arrest and imprisonment to do things that they are not required to do is against the law.

This crime must be reported to the DA and warrants immediate arrests be made before city officials physically harm the PFR.

PFR need to be protected more than women and children do because their status makes them much more vulnerable to attack than anyone else in society.

The government really needs to step up their game and get the self-protection education classes rolling for the PFR the way they do for other members of the public.

After all, PFR is a government creation and that means that the government is responsible to protect their creation!

Bring it! As soon as you try to enforce that unconstitutional law without injunction in place and one of your officer steps over the property line onto private property, not only is the city then going to be tossed into court, so will the law enforcement office who the officer represents. Then all sorts of budgetary concerns are going to be raised because the City’s bank account will be run dry due to damages processed for those who they enforced the law against.

lol the sign requirement is stupid for two reasons. One, if it’s still light enough to see a sign on door it would encourage people and kids to see what it says, maybe it says candy in bag take one each like some people do, and two if it’s dark you wouldn’t be able to see a sign anyways. Dumb.

So not on Probation or Parole but yet they demand you self “House Arrest”! So it’s against their rules to go out to dinner, go to the gym, go have a Margarita! FYP!

If it were me my sign would be printed in the tiniest font, located directly below the darkened porch light—and, just to be sure would take an extreme closeup of the sign for evidence, before it gets obliterated by eggs (or worse) lobbed by vigilantes dressed as clowns.

Seriously? Is NO ONE going to comment about the fact that they have imposed a CURFEW on people who have served their sentence and paid their debt to society? That is a constitutional infringement in and of itself. If it were me, I’d put a dish of candy out, turn the lights on, and leave a friend at my house to pass out candy while I go out for a night on the town, surrounded by friends with cameras to create and preserve a record. Hell, I’d go down to the police station and say hi, just because it’s my damn right to do so.

Please observe this sign on my door even though it’s pitch black and my lights are off. 👍

Missouri: The Stupid is as Stupid Does state!

To Janice:

Please send a copy of this letter to the judge that issued the injunction. At the very least, I would think that’s pretty clear evidence of contempt of court on the part of the police chief and the point of contact named at the bottom.

that is typical of Hazelwood I hope they get sued
my question is who is going to arrest the police

The 8th circuit already signaled how they will rule. Will be in favor of the registry folks.

” Police Department committed to proactive neighborhood problem solving.” Having a sign on the door or near it when it gets dark around 5pm or after, so nobody is going to see a sign. Forcing a person to be home from 5pm to 10 pm unless they are going to work or have a medical emergency seems like punishment for those off paper. Problem solving seems like it’s missing in Jefferson City, Misery. Is the governor of Misery actually Kathy Bates from the movie Misery obsessed with controlling People Forced to Register (PFR)?

House arrest for 5 and 1/2 hours? How does that not count as illegal confinement? I wonder if a person could file for a Habeas Corpus at exactly 7:00 p.m.?

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice,” as stated by MLK, Jr needs to have the words “very slowly” inserted after the word “bends” as it appears to me that justice in this world is moving very slowly on a whole range or issues.

Hazelwood is a flyover town right in the shadow of St. Louis Lambert International. Their biggest problem is jet noise, not people that don’t post signs on their lawn

People who support the SEX Registries are just morons. Whole, certified morons. Do these scumbags actually think they are doing something good or helping anyone? Are they truly that dumb? Hard to believe. I may call them just to try to figure that out. I want to see if they can speak in complete sentences. It may sound like I’m joking since it is so idiotic, but I’m not. These people are mentally incompetent.

But anyway, if I lived in that city I absolutely would be doing something about this. Perhaps call the state police and tell them local police are illegally harassing you. Get the state AG to investigate. Force them to do it. Get attorneys involved. Having said that, I’d be shocked if Janice didn’t ensure this made it in front of the courts working on this illegal law.

Also, as “SLP” has mentioned here (and likely others), the real outrage is that the criminal regime of Missouri thinks that they can tell people to remain in their homes. That is outrageous and no real American would ever think that is acceptable. The criminals should be sued. If there is any PFR is Missouri who allows the law enforcement criminals to visit them on Halloween, I don’t know what they are thinking. I can’t imagine allowing that. They’d find my property locked down, with no entry for anyone. They could arrest me perhaps and then I’d absolutely retaliate. They’d see how they massively sacrificed public safety.

Personally, I wouldn’t really give a flip about any sign. I stopped caring at all about what anyone thinks decades ago. The Registries did that for me and it’s awesome. Further, the sign would give me a great reason to make my own signs. 4×8 sheets of wood or other material make great signs. And of course, you can easily make even bigger, huge signs. Fluorescent spray paint shows up on them so well. I’d make one specifically for the criminal Jim Hudanick. Heck, I might have fun building a good, old fashioned gallows for a nice effigy hanging.

Lastly, again, the stupidity of these people is shocking. This law has no benefits for anyone. Doesn’t protect anyone. What does it do? Radicalize people. These kinds of actions have made me a lifelong enemy of government and their law enforcement criminals. I’m not ever going to help them. With anything. But I will be a thorn in their sides. They need oversight all the time. I’m going to continue helping groups and politicians who will do that. They need people to cause them problems constantly. F*ck big government.

They’re just like Trump. They’re always making threats. How strange.
